This is a great way to introduce your new class to your room, what they will be learning and what your rules are. In the past, I've spent 15-20 mins plus introducing my room, my rules, safety and routines and it gets boring for both me and the students. I would do this 24 times a year! It got boring pretty fast after the 3rd time! My 15-20 minute introduction and rules speech is now down to 5 mins or less and it's engaging, interesting and the students pay attention! After this Powerpoint presentation, have them repeat back to you some of the highlights and you'll be surprised that they will ALL know your rules among other things.
This is a 26 page slide show that has taken me many hours to complete. It's a presentation that I use with my name and my rules. Feel free to use it as a template to enter your own information. This template can be used for any subject area when you are introducing your course and rules. It contains lots of animations (images and texts flying in and flying out).
Please note that when you delete text / images to replace with your own text / images, the animations will also automatically delete in Powerpoint. To add animation, click on "animation" at the top menu bar, click on "add animation", then choose your own animation.
Click on "animation pane", a window will pop up on your right. Click on the down arrow beside the item you would like to animate, choose "timing", then choose the features on how you would like to animate that particular item - start, delay, duration, repeat.
Before you delete, it may be best to "study" which animations I've chosen and their effects and timing. When you add yours, you'll have a better idea of what effects you would like to have. Click on "animations" and then "animation pane" to see what I have done.
