This packet has seven activities that I've used on the first day of teaching 4th graders. There is a letter for students to read (you'll have to personalize that), an activity to help students to get to know one another, a following directions lesson and worksheet (that also gives a hint of a couple math skills), a buddy interview and poem activity and a few shorter fun activities. The short activities are in the area of math and logical thinking. Also, there is a Basic Skills Test that I sell separately, but am now including in this resource. I also added a back-to-school mad lib. Worksheets can be copied for distribution, but, again, the letter must be redone with your information. A successful first day of school sets the tone for the rest of the school year and I always want it to be positive for my students and myself. I hope this is helpful for your first day of 4th grade. This can also be used or modified in 3rd or 5th grade.
