This physical education booklet contains activities and assignments to go along with all of the outcomes in the Saskatchewan Wellness 10 Curriculum. It includes:
W1- Dimensions of Wellness- personal inventory, graph, & accompanying questions.
W2-Service Learning-Community Service Hours collection sheet & youtube video & reflection guide.
W3 Movement Activity- A list of activities that will be completed during class time including-Body Management, Alternative Environment, Target Games, & Net/Wall Games.
W4- Mental Health- A collaborative research assignment that has students creating presentations based off of 13 specific mental health issues stemming from Mood, Anxiety, Personality, & Self Harm branches of mental health.
W5- Self Awareness- A digital presentation assignment that has students completing a multitude of online quizzes, surveys, and inventories to learn more about themselves & then share and reflect upon their results.
W6- Safety & Injury Prevention- a fast write sheet to go along with a wrap and strap or injury prevention presentation done in your class.
W7- Health & Skill Related Components of Fitness- Includes a research project where students learn about Power, Agility, Speed, Reaction Time, Balance, Coordination & create a 2 day training program to improve their skill related components of fitness. Also includes a research assignment where students will learn about Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Body Composition, the FITT Principle, & create a 3 day workout program to complete in the weightroom.
W8- Relationships- Two online videos to be watched on youtube and a set of questions to follow up with.
W9- Community Well Being- A collaborative project where students examine and present issues that impact communities including trauma, bullying, sexual health, gambling, domestic violence, unemployment, gang violence, chronic illness, elder abuse, suicide, etc.
W10- Skills, Tactics, & Strategies- A football playbook assignment that has students split into teams and designing their own flag football plays to be practiced and then implemented into tournament style play.
W11- Healthy Eating- A nutrition action plan that has students use the app/website "My Fitness Pal" for a week. They need to establish goals, strive to reach them, and reflect on their successes and failures. This includes a self & peer evaluation sheet. There is also a recording sheet for students to fill out when a guest speaker/nutritionist comes to speak to the class.
W12 Spirituality- A video on the Science of Happiness is accompanied with a guided reflection sheet & questions.
