This unit plan contains notes, student learning targets, target check HW's, review games, and tests for the unit. This unit lays out the learning objectives and also gives students a place to rate themselves multiple times in the unit (self assessment and monitoring!). The notes are in smart notebook and offer a more hands on approach to teaching content. I also provided a unit plan for how I teach the unit is school. Each lesson may take 1 or 2 classes depending on the class. I am very hesitant to put time restraints on a lesson and pace it by how the students do! The target checks are worksheets designed to assess the students on how they are doing with the objectives. These objectives can be posted on the board each day to go with your lesson.
The unit also comes with review games for the smart board that kids LOVE to play - you throw a small koosh ball at the board and it pulls up a question...no smartboard? No problem - I have included a powerpoint jeopardy game as well!
The unit test is rigorous and aligned to the common core. All questions include academic vocab and are leveled by complexity. There is also an article and questions to reinforce ELA strategies in health class.
There is a project as well in this unit. A goals collage that allows students to share goals and a little about them. A great starter project.
This unit is a GREAT start for any health course! Topics include: dimensions of wellness, stress, depression, suicide, goal setting, diseases, and risk behaviors.
I have also put sample activities that I do with step by step directions to help!
Everything is organized by topic and folder when you unzip the file!
As a bonus, I also put numerous article and question activities in for those in a pinch moments if you have a sub or need a quick reading activity to do. All activities align to national health standards and CCLS. I hope you enjoy this!
