This is an activity pack to accompany the story, Wemberly Worried by Kevin Henkes.
Story Summary: Wemberly worries about everything, especially the first day of school.
Wemberly Worried is a great book choice for launching a conversation about the worries that students have about the first day of school.
This activity pack includes:
Page 2 - Read Aloud Lesson Overview (book introduction, guiding questions for discussion, explanation of how to use activity sheet)
Page 3 – Sample photos of activities
Page 4 - Worry List (Students recall details from the story and list them.)
Page 5 - What Makes You Worry? (Students make a personal connection to the story.)
Page 6 - Character Comparison (Students compare and contrast two characters.)
Page 7 - Friend Comparison (Students work in pairs to find similarities and differences about themselves.)
Page 8 - Mouse Craftivity Directions
Page 9 – Mouse Craftivity (Craft can be used as a paper bag puppet to use for retelling the story from Wemberly’s point of view OR as a page topper for “What Makes You Worry?” written response.)
