My students really enjoy this personal connection craft. I usually read the book, Wemberly Worried during our Kevin Henkes author study and ask students to make a personal connection to the story by thinking about a time when they felt worried about something.
Directions: Print out the PDF file (single sided) and copy a class set for your students. Have them color the circle background page (page 3 of this document) and then have them color and cut out the rest of Wemberly's body. Students should then glue Wemberly's ears, shirt, and head over the colored circle background. Lastly, students should write about a time when they felt worried about something in their lives. Students should cut out the written portion of the assignment and glue it to the craft. I have attached a picture of my own model for you to show your students when giving them this assignment to complete.
