Written by a professional children's yoga teacher, this kids yoga unit is the perfect companion to the lovable book "We're Going on a Leaf Hunt" by Steve Metzger.
Children will love retelling the story, as they act out the book by climbing mountains, navigating waterfalls, rowing their boats across a lake, and discovering colorful leaves from many different trees! What a great way to get them moving, and help them learn about Autumn! (Now with more pictures and fun ideas for integrating props!)
The lesson includes step-by-step instructions (appropriate even for those who have never done yoga), large pictures throughout, and 3 pages of Printable Kids Yoga Cards for each movement for the book (12 cards total). Special Fall-themed stretches throughout!
Use it as a full unit (must have a copy of the book), or just grab out sections to use for quick Brain Breaks, Circle Time, or Transitions! So many options. Laminate the Kids Yoga Cards, and you can use over-it-and-over! Great for Autumn-themed lessons and activities!
All units include tips on working with various ages and abilities (this specific plan is tailored to Pre-K through 3rd Grade), giving options of difficulty for poses and allowing instructors to modify for their specific students.
The lesson plans do not promote or include any spiritual/religious elements.
LENGTH: 30-45 min (or just use specific sections for a 10 minute brain break!)
