PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This FREE introductory packet, including two interactive files and printables, was designed for students functioning on a PreK – Kindergarten level with a goal of teaching the concepts of BIG and LITTLE.

The packet includes two interactive documents designed for use in iBooks on an iPad, or on a laptop or desktop computer.

The packet also includes a set of printable cards that are a duplicate of the slides presented in the interactive documents.

This packet is an introductory packet for a WE ARE LEARNING BASIC CONCEPTS series that we have released. This free packet introduces the concepts of BIG and LITTLE. There are four additional units available, each addressing 4 concept pairs.

The additional units include:

Unit 1 – Over/Under, Same/Different, In/Out, Top/Bottom;

Unit 2 – Empty/Full, In Front, Behind, Long/Short, Before/After;

Unit 3 – High/Low, Tall/Short, First/Last, Right/Left;

Unit 4 – More/Less, Another/Next, Second/Third, Corner/Middle

Suggested Activities

Interactive Files: Provides opportunity for 20 responses each for Big and Little

Display an illustrated slide and read aloud the “Find a little ___.” cue. The student should click/tap the illustration that he/she thinks is the correct response. If the student chooses the correct response a reward page appears including a descriptive statement about the illustration. Read aloud the descriptive statement and have the student imitate. If the student chooses an incorrect response a TRY AGAIN page will appear. Click TRY AGAIN to return to the original stimulus page.

Printable Cards: Includes 20 cards (5 printable pages)

These cards may be used for teaching or assessing the concepts of big and little. Each card includes cues for choosing both the big and little item(s).

Call on a student to respond, then read aloud the “Find a big / little ___.” cue. After identifying the correct item, have the student respond by producing a descriptive statement, i.e., “This is a big camera.”

Extend the activity by asking the student(s) to find ‘all’ the big or little items on cards that have three or more images.
