This is a 14 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on the Western Expansion in the United States - The California Gold Rush. Each of the slides are editable so you can change it to fit your individual needs.
The discovery of gold nuggets in the Sacramento Valley in early 1848 sparked the Gold Rush. This marked one of the most significant events to shape American history during the first half of the 19th century.
In 1848, the population of the California territory was less than 1,000 people. By the end of 1949, as thousands of prospective gold miners traveled to the San Francisco area, the population had grown to over 100,000 people!
A total of $2 billion worth of precious metal was extracted from the area during the Gold Rush, which peaked in 1852.
The presentation covers the following:
The Discovery of Gold
Map of the Gold rush
Impact on California
New Mining Techniques
Impact of the Gold Rush
