Are you sick of all the cutesy, girly activities. Here is one for the cowboys and cowgirls in your classroom. The following is a sentence sorting activity with a western theme. It contains 3 panels. There is a panel for complete sentences, one for run-on sentences, and one for sentence fragments. The students are asked to cut the statements from the list, and then, they must place them on the correct panel.
This simple activity will help your students differentiate between complete sentences, run-on sentences, and sentence fragments.
I recommend printing the panels off on cardstock and laminating them. This way you can use them over and over again. Next, you can either make copies of the sentences and distribute them to each of your students or you can laminate the sentences and cut them out yourself. You can then place them in a plastic bag and have your students to sort them.
