This 28 page document has two parts; a 14 page booklet for students and a 14 page answer key for teachers. It's aligned with many social studies state standards for United States geography and history. It's main use is for fifth grade classrooms, but can be adapted since the blocks allow for students and teachers to go in-depth as much or as little as they would like.
The purpose of this booklet is to allow students and teachers to take notes in a structured and organized way. Students could take notes from a textbook, research, or teacher directed notes using the provided answer key. It is a great resource for students to use as a study guide for test and quizzes as well as cumulative tests.
Page two lists overarching questions that can be used as essential questions within the classroom. The following pages cover (1) timeline, (2) key historical figures (presidents), (3) Louisiana Purchase, (4) Lewis and Clark Expedition, (5) War of 1812, (6) Indian Removal (act, wars, Trail of Tears), (7) Texas and Mexico (Texas fight for freedom, Alamo, Mexican American War), (8) westward trails, (9) California Gold Rush and Oregon Trail, (10) beginning of the Industrial Revolution, and (11) glossary.
Please be on the look out for other student booklets that will cover the other fifth grade social studies standards.
