This is the set of posters I created for my class to use while teaching our unit on Westward Expansion. I also take some time and include a few famous women who fought to end slavery and for women's rights in this same unit.
These have so many uses! I am starting off the unit with just these on the walls (and I will print copies for each student to paste in their notebooks). As we learn about the various concepts, students will place sticky notes with new learning, insights, questions, etc. about each.
You could also use these as a teaching document to display while discussing the skills for this unit, or print them out for student notebooks/notes. You could also create a bulletin board (interactive or informational) for your classroom. I am excited to see what they learn!!
~Lewis and Clark Expedition
~Trail of Tears
~California Gold Rush
~Industrial Revolution (what it is and highlighting the steamboat, steam locomotive, and telegraph)
~A map with each section labeled to show the progression of the United State's westward expansion
~Elizabeth Cady Stanton
I hope your class enjoys these posters and you enjoy the discussions that come from them!
