Students will read informational text and decipher what it is that makes soil hydric and how that relates to wetland ecosystems. Students will relate how Florida's geologic history shaped the soils of today. Ultimately, they will incorporate their knowledge of hydric soils into a soil collage to show that it is not simply dirt, but also is home to microbes, plant roots, and other organisms along with decomposing organic matter.
