About this resource:
I don’t know why kids love to smack the smithereens out of innocent, defenseless moles on the SMART board; I only know that they do…and that I’m all too happy to exploit it.
This Whack-A-Mole game template was created in SMART Notebook 11. It contains 10 question and answer slides that are currently populated with 8th grade science formulas (Science TEKS 6.6B, 6.8C, 7.7A, 8.6A, 8.6B, 8.6C) as placeholders, but the content can be easily changed to suit a variety of grade levels and content areas.
Feel free to check out the video tutorial
that I made to demonstrate how the game works and how the content can be edited. I also included instructions for playing and editing the game within the product file, so even teachers who are not well-acquainted with SMART Notebook can easily put together a customized activity.
The file also contains a printable answer sheet to help students organize their work. I like to collect this as an exit ticket at the end of class.
- SMART Notebook software
- Interactive whiteboard
- An inflatable mallet, koosh ball, bean bag, fly swatter, or other object for “whacking” moles (optional)
- A copy of the answer sheet for each student (optional)
