Teach simple sentence construction, colors, and clothing labels with this activity. You can even use it to teach when you use an article and when you don't. It serves as a visual support as children construct and "read" their sentence or it can be used by non-verbal children to participate in the activity. Plus, children love to stick and unstick the icons.
Instructions: Take a regular-sized file folder and open it so that it is in landscape position. Paste page 1 on the top and paste page 2 on the bottom of the file folder. You may have to cut the pages to make them fit on the file folder. Take the icons on page 3 and cut each of them out individually. Then paste them onto posterboard or another thick board that you can cut. Cut around each of the icons leaving a border. Next laminate both the file folder and the icons. Put Velcro on each empty space of pages 1 and 2 once the file folder is laminated. Velcro the icons too. When the color and clothing icons are not in use, keep them on page 2.
NOTE: Do you like this activity but there's something you want to change about it, like adding a color or clothing item to it? Or you wish the font was bigger? Or maybe you don't like the floating articles of clothing around the words "What am I wearing today?" Let me know before you buy it and I can upload a revised version of the activity so it's exactly what you want.
