The Civil War
The following lesson is meant to examine the turmoil that existed in the United States right before and during the Civil War. States’ Rights, Abolitionists, Tariffs, Industrialization, King Cotton, are just some of the issues that will be examined as students go through the unit.
This activity will allow for each student to view the war from both sides. They will have the job of creating a propaganda poster that represents one of the causes of the Civil War,and portray it from a Southern View point and a Northern View Point.
This lesson can easily be modified to fit any time period, and any level that exists in the classroom. Challenge students to think outside the normal, and what they have been taught and take their learning to the next level.
So let us travel to the 1820’s and see what turmoil we can discover taking place in the United States.
