Pg. 5 Roll and Write! – practice writing the capital and lowercase letter F – roll the dice to see how many times to write it on each line
Pg. 6-9 F is for Fish! Copy the patterns onto appropriate colored paper – add the fins, lips, and eyes to make the fish
Pg. 10-12 Match the color words to the crayons! - a fun way to practice your color words – turn them over and play concentration for more of a challenge
Pg. 13-16 My Color Word Book! - copy pages A and B back to back – attach the cover page – trace the sentence and write an item that is that color – illustrate it– Example: “Red is like an apple.”
Pg. 17-24 Going Fishing! – a game to practice your High-Frequency words – attach metal paperclips to the fish, sock, shoe, and tire – to make a fishing pole – get a stick, attach yarn and hot glue a magnet to the end of the string – put the fish in the pond face down – students take turns using the pole to catch a fish – read the word on the fish after you catch it – if you catch a tire, sock, or shoe you lose a turn (you can have them return one of their fish to the pond as well if you want the game to last longer) – can be laminated
Pg. 25-28 My Favorite Color is… - a craft activity and writing project – students choose their favorite color and write it on the top line – they then tell why they like it – two choices of crafts – can make a mosaic rainbow by cutting ½ inch squares on the cutting board and gluing them onto the rainbow – cut out the rainbow and attach with the student’s writing to a larger piece of paper – or have the students draw a picture of something they like that is their favorite color – For example “white – I like it because I like to play in snow”
Pg. 29-33 –Frog Crowns – copy off onto appropriate paper – add the eyes and tongue
Pg. 34-35 Catch a Fly – feed the frog only the flies that have a picture on it that starts with the /f/ sound – color and attach the frog to a lunch bag – cut out the mouth to form an opening– and feed the correct flies to it
Pg. 36-37 Make a Sentence! – cut out the naming and action parts and put them together in different ways to form sentences that you can read!
