Many of my groups have goals targeting social language, conversational skills, asking questions, and/or topic maintenance.
VARIED LEVELS OF SUPPORT:
*One set provides 3 sentence starters for each topic to help students formulate questions. These are designed to support their ability to begin with a question word and challenges them to use varied question words to gain different types of information while remaining on topic.
*The other set provides the topics, but allows the students to independently come up with questions to gain more information about the given topic.
*I've also included a page with blank topic boxes that you can use to create your own topics that are relevant to your students, or ask your students to fill in the topics.
Additionally, when using the pages that contain many topics (without lines for written responses), I give students the opportunity to take turns being the "topic master". They sit in the teacher's chair at the table while the other students and I ask them questions about the topic they've chosen, to give a more natural feel to the conversational practice.
I always use this activity in combination with my Visual Support for ASKING WH Questions product which you can find in my TPT store!
ENJOY! :)
