I have always used an absent folder for students to collect the work of their absent neighbors. This year, my students were concerned about when they return to school and there is nothing in their absent folder. This simple sheet (created with input from my students) is a great way for students to keep track of what we do during the day so that students who are absent can quickly get caught up on what they missed. This is perfect for when we continue with a previous assignment, have a reading or writing workshop mini-lesson that did not involve a handout, etc.
