This product contains 15 writing activities for an interactive approach to developing writing ideas. Your students may use these pages throughout the year as they brainstorm and plan their narrative writing, and will serve as an anchor in their writing notebook for their learning and growth. These pages are simple and direct enough for ESL students, but also help the more advanced students plan, organize, and build on their ideas. I have included a few options/levels for several of the activities.
Here's the breakdown of what this interactive notebook includes:
-- Establishing writing routines
-- What's important to me?
-- My memories
-- Things I like to do
-- Making a plan
-- Detail planner
-- Bubble planner
-- Writing and language goal setting
-- Pocket full of adjectives
-- Sensory language
-- Stretching out a moment
-- Specific verbs
-- Thoughts and talk
-- Word choice
-- What I want the reader to know
I created this product for my bilingual/ESL classroom. My students needed a high level of support to begin the writing process, and I wanted to give them tools they could use throughout the year to develop their ideas. These interactive notebook pages follow the Writing Workshop philosophy of fostering independence and differentiating instruction, while also providing students with support and guidance. Instead of telling them what to write about, I give them the autonomy to make their own choices as this notebook helps them believe in the value of their words and stories.
I have included many teacher suggestions throughout this product to help you implement these ideas in your own classroom.
I hope you find it as valuable as we have!
