Newly updated graphics 10/2017
These cards are designed to provide a structure for young children to produce 2-word utterances using Noun + Verb, and 3-word utterances using Noun + Verb + Noun.
Start with guided practice. The student or adult places a character card on a blank rectangle.
a) The adult points to each picture and says each word.
b) The child and the adult both point to each picture and the child imitates the adult’s model of each word.
c) The adult points to each picture and the student spontaneously names the pictures.
d) The child points to each picture independently and spontaneously names each picture.
e) The child spontaneously names the pictures without pointing. By this time, the child’s utterance should be produced fluently without pauses between words.
f) Articles and verb tense markers can be added in when appropriate.
