This culture study offers activities for three days. None of the activities directly rely on the others. If you need to shorten the length of days you dedicate to this study, you certainly could. This is a low-prep unit that is perfect for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (May) or for any time of year when Asian studies or culture studies fit into your curriculum.
The activities consist of various class discussion methods, small group computer research, and reading and discussion of one non-fiction article. The only prep involved for the teacher would be printing copies of the article for day one (if student computers are not available) and gathering student computers, markers, and large paper/posterboard for day three. This activity set would be suitable for older students in grades 9th-12th.
This culture study is a perfect lead-in to the Notable Asians of Pop Culture Project
