What Does the Fox Say?
A Sight Word Game
Get ready for fun and excitement with this game! It is based on the now popular song “What does the fox say?” They all know this song! I was introduced to it by my kindergarten granddaughter, Kenidee, so I’m sure your children will know it too. My kindergarten children love this song!
This is a game to help children learn sight words. There are 129 words plus the number words zero through ten, and 10 color words.
The children will take turns drawing cards. If they can read the word they keep it, if they can’t they discard it. If a special card is drawn, they do as it says.
Take 1 card from everyone.
Take 2 cards. (from the deck)
Give me all your cards to eat! (to the discard pile)
Chickens! Yum! Give a card to everyone!
What does the fox say? Children will all sing “Ding, ding, ding, etc.” (They know what to sing.) The child draws 3 additional cards from the deck.
The child with the most words after all are drawn is the winner.
