Product Description
Newly revised and improved. You can purchase many of your “over the counter” medications by just going to your nearby supermarket or convenience store. Many people do not realize that the dosages in these products are for the average person of a certain height and weight. This activity will ask the student look at data related to a person’s weight and the dosage of a certain medication that a doctor has prescribed. As your student works through this lesson, they will be asked to analyze the data and formulate conclusions. Mathematical concepts covered in this activity include slope of a line, graphing data, and analyzing the data for projections. Your student may use of a spreadsheet software or graphing calculator but this is a great activity to reinforce each student’s skills with basic algebraic concepts.
The teacher should download the “FREE” Plumbing lab and use this lesson as a review for calculating the slope of a line using data before assigning this activity. An answer guide is provided.
There are 11 pages in this activity asking the student to answer questions related to the data. An optional activity using the internet is suggested for additional student investigation.
Common core standards include 6NS.C.8, 6EE.c.9, 7EE.b.4a, 7EE.B.4b.
