Use this anchor chart to guide students in understanding what good readers do as they read. This anchor chart focuses on the main comprehension strategies, such as making inferences, context clues, and fix-up strategies. Each strategy models the questions good readers have in their heads as they read. It also gives suggestions for the students as they read, if they are struggling with understanding a certain strategy. Use and modeling of this chart begins to give students ownership of their own reading, through understanding how to monitor comprehension.
