Level 1: Enlarged text, Simple text (can also be read out loud to students) with lots of visual supports. Students circle/point to the answers for two different questions per passage. First question is a simple question (with picture matching) about who the story is about (so students can feel a sense of achievement when giving responses). Second question requires the student to reread (or listen again) the passage in order to find the sequence connector word, “Next.” This is the only level to include a specific connector word.
Level 2: Simplified text with visual supports. Students answer one question with 2 possible choices about what could happen next in the story.
Level 3: This level has slightly longer reading passages of the same story with many context clues. Students answer one question with three possible answers to choose from.
Level 4: The reading passages in this level are the same as in level 3 but the students write in their own answers to answer the question, “What happens next?”
Table on contents and answer key (for passages in level 1-3) included.
