Product Description
What I Need to Begin Work Desk Strip, Poster, Sequencing and Mini Reader

This set of resources is perfect for children who need a plan to begin their work. It's ideal for Kindergarten through third grade students to develop positive work habits.

This classroom resource would also be helpful for early learners, ESL and special needs students, in particular Autistic Spectrum Disorders and children with Dyslexia.

*** This file has been updated and extended as of July 2015. If you have purchased the resource prior to the update, please log in, go to 'My Purchases' and hit download.

This file includes:

* Desk strip with 5 steps (see image) color.
* Desk strip with 5 steps black and white.
* Posters with steps to begin work (one with boxed steps and one with no boxes)
* Printable sequencing activity. Students put the steps in order.
* Printable mini-reader with the steps in procedural order.
* Printable mini-reader pictures omitted for students to draw their own to show understanding.

Each prompt coincides with a simple image which makes it easier to interpret.

Each prompt begins with a need... thus focusing on desired self talk habits.

Children should have these behaviors modeled to them. From here, students should be guided to use the prompt with open-ended questions, praise and some re-modelling. After some time, educators should aim for children to have some level of independence and autonomy around getting their work started.
