What would it look like Picasso Drew a Snowman?

We chose Pablo Picasso as the Artist of the Month for December.

I was inspired by the fun story in the book If Picasso Painted a Snowman by Amy Newbold and it demonstrates how snowmen might be drawn or created by different famous artists. Included is a learning plan, script and Art History printouts. All photos are from an actual class of First Graders. I like to have examples created by children and not by adults.

My focus is on introducing Art History, Elements of Art, and Principles of Design while allowing the children the freedom of creative expression. We taught this learning plan to first grade classes but could be used for older grades also.

What You'll Receive:

  1. The eight step Learning Plan.
  2. A Script that provides a focus of the art project along with information to discuss with the students.
  3. An Art History page that you can print out and mount to the backside of their projects that explains some interesting facts about the Famous Artist, what the student created, materials they used and some vocabulary that was discussed.

I am not an Art History major, just a regular mom with a passion for children and a love of creating.
