The purpose of this activity is for students to investigate events prior to WW2 and to decide what led to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
This lesson is based on a book, Operation Snow, so it can be used in conjunction with that book or as an introduction to the book.
The lesson contains a timeline of events leading to the Pearl Harbor attack. Students will either examine the entire timeline or break into groups to do so, whatever works best for your class.
Distribute the timelines to students in groups. You can give them all 40 items or just one part.
Ask them to examine the timeline and identify events that led to Pearl Harbor.
Ask them to answer the questions.
Engage students in a discussion of events asking them what new information they learned from this investigation.
I complete this lesson in one 90-minute block and with discussion, it usually takes the entire block.
Thanks for your interest.
