This powerpoint, What Makes Me?, is meant for a FCS Interpersonal Studies, Individual and Family Life or I have even used it in Child Development courses. Includes the following topics:
Sex of Child
The last three slides of the powerpoint are meant to be a game/activity to finish out the lesson. The activity is to show the randomness of dominant and recessive traits. How this works is you get the students in groups of two and have one of them number a sheet of paper 1 to 26. From there they would play rock, paper scissors 26 times. For each time you have them write down dominant or recessive based on what the outcome of the rock, paper scissors game was (dominant would be anytime they didn't have the same answer or if they both chose rock, and recessive would be if they both chose scissors or paper). After they are done you flip the powerpoint to the next slide and you have them write down their traits based on the chart. For answers 3, 5 and 8 they cross out the answer for the next number. For answer 25 they cross out the next answer if they had dominant for answer 25. From there I have them draw "their child" and name the child by combining both of their first names (McRanda, Brajolina, etc).
