I use these cards in my Junior class to assist students with following instructions. These are great to use for pre-readers, EAL or students with additional needs. This set contains 14 cards using text and images to break down instructions and steps involved in completing student work. As I repeat the basic instructions before sending students off to begin, I refer to the most appropriate card to represent the step and place them on the board in chronological order. This then remains in a highly visible place for continuous student reference. I find it really helpful in assisting much younger students just entering schooling who may be still developing learning and work skills as well as for students with memory and retention difficulties, as they can refer to it regularly. The use of the images, allow non-readers to associate images with the actions.
Laminate these cards and place velcro or magnetic tape on the back (whichever you prefer for the display space you are using), so they can be taken down and put up quickly for ease when changing over.
