Over the years, I found that when students left for the holiday break, they didn't do anything to keep their mind "on"! I created a list of short activities for my class to do over their break. I let them turn in the activities for extra credit on an assessment IF they complete them completely and correctly. I have found that parents appreciate having something for their child to do and the students actually do enjoy doing them.
The activities include:
~Parts of Speech
~Reading and Connecting (with evidence)
~Measurement-Metric and Customary Weight (as a pre-teaching for my class)
~Long Multiplication and Division
~Ecosystem (noticing the world around them and thinking about what they notice-pre-teaching for my class)
~Facts/Opinion (and inferences that go along with each)
~Dialogue Skills (Punctuating)
~New Year Goal
I have left this in a Word Document so you can go in and edit the dates for each assignment.
I hope you and your class enjoys this!
