Product Description
Students often struggle with descriptive language, including comparing and contrasting, and using the 5 senses to visualize and conceptualize the world around us. The "What Was I Thinking Packet" is designed to enhance your students' describing skills. This 17-page packet includes:

*5 Senses graphic organizer with black & white line art representing the 5 senses; Students can brainstorm one-word descriptors & write them in the sense pictures to describe the specific vocabulary
*A comparison questionnaire that assists the student in generating ideas to compare and contrast the specific vocabulary word with other objects in order to build perspective. These same questions are available further down in the document as cards to use with the included game board.
*30 vocabulary cards of common items that can be used with the graphic organizer and comparing/contrasting questionnaire.
*10 shape cards with words and graphics to assist younger students in identifying shapes of objects
*5 reference posters with the 5 senses and example descriptors for each of the senses.
*Doggie, Go Home! Generic game board for use with the descriptor cards or any activity. Use with any standard game pieces and dice. Students draw one of the vocabulary cards and one of the descriptor cards and must describe the specified vocabulary according to the card in order to keep the card and move forward on the game board. The first student to reach the doghouse wins. (Since the game board is a single page, I find it easier to print out enough game boards for each student in a group to have their own.)
*20 Comparison/contrast cards using the same or similar prompts from the comparison questionnaire for use with the Doggie, Go Home! Gameboard or for general use with the 5 Senses activity.
