Have you ever wanted to be king or queen for a day? Chances are your students would want to as well! In this learning simulation students will be presented with a number of realistic and historically relevant decisions medieval monarchs were presented with and a number of options to choose from. They will also get to flex their argumentative and writing skills by explaining why they made the decisions they did. After the class has finished the ten scenarios, organize them into groups of your choosing and have them discuss/debate the decisions they made and whether or not they were the right one and what were the pros and cons of each decision. I created this lesson to be taught in the middle of a unit on the medieval period, after they are familiarized with the parts of the feudal system. The scenarios can be assigned for homework with the discussion following the next day for a Flipped Classroom lesson.
