This lesson is the first of five, in my beginning of the year study skills unit --introduction to study skills and the learning process. It is a PPT, with lesson notes at the bottom of each slide. Direct Instruction of study skills teaches students to take charge of their learning and gives them the strategies to use to succeed academically.
Students must habituate good study skills. To do this, they need consistent skills support at school and at home. Use this lesson, and the others on my TPT page, to build your own study skills program and lessons.
In this lesson, students will:
-preview purpose of the course
-state a simple definition of learning
-recognize the broad application of study skills to all aspects of learning
-describe the benefits of good study skills.
