About this product. Use the cards for a bulletin board or as cards in large or small group to discuss the elements of a good/great story. I like to use the larger cards on my bulletin board in my writing center. The children can refer to the board while they are writing their stories or as a place to help them brainstorm idea they may want to write about. Often children just can’t think of anything and it helps if they have visuals that they can refer to as they contemplate what they might want to write about. Also, put books in your writing area. It is important that your students have items to refer to as they write.

How do I use the round buttons?
The buttons I have included in this project can be used in many ways.
* I hang them on the bulletin board with the other cards.
* Put them on a chain by punching a hole in the button and attaching a large paper clip then, I attach the paper clip to a chain that hangs up on hooks. Sometimes I hang them on different short chains- then the students can take them to their desk. The chains hang from small hooks on the wall.
* You can also put them in a basket then place the basket in your writing center. The students can go through the basket looking for ideas from the cards.
* If you want your students to focus on specific topics label your
* baskets, then only put out the buttons you want them to choose from.
* At the beginning of the school year do not put out all materials at one time but instead, choose carefully which you may want your students to write about and only put those out.
