I wanted my fifth graders to choose books and read out of school as well as in school. To keep track of what they had read and promote comprehension skills, I had each student keep a journal or log. Every kid brought in a notebook and glued the paper I am offering on the inside cover. The student chose what aspect to write about off the choices and turned it in once a week. On the top of each entry they had to write the date along with the title and author of the book they read.I would teach on each choice before I turned them on their own. You can present each one easily in class through reading to your students. What I am offering here is the page with choices on what students can write in their reading logs.
