This very useful five page resource teaches kids about Autism in a way they can understand through the use of kid-friendly language, examples and visuals. It also includes a page with ways they can help if they know someone with Autism. At the end of the document are two pages with a scenario that students may encounter and then some questions to answer regarding the scenario. These two pages are differentiated for various grades/ability levels to make this document more versatile across the elementary grades. These questions allow students to apply their learning about students with Autism and ways they can help, and for you to assess what they have gained through this lesson. This is an excellent resource to use during Autism Awareness Month in April or anytime throughout the year to build awareness, knowledge and acceptance of those who are different. Could be used as a character education lesson by the classroom teacher of school counselor.
