Product Description
This activity introduces students to the basic concept of life. For this activity I pour mountain dew into a beaker, then drop in about 10 dried raisins. To start off the activity I ask the students to observe what is in the beaker and determine if they are living or non-living. Due to the carbonation in the soda, the raisins will float up and down in the beaker as if they are moving! The students will create a hypothesis stating if the objects are living or non-living. We will then talk about the difference between an observation and an inference. We will then fill out the observation and inference chart. This activity will culminate with students listing the characteristics of all living things.
