Product Description
This is a really fun and sweet (pun intended) lesson! The lesson would be a great way to introduce and/or assess students on the topic of genes. This lesson includes sweet edible items but can easily be substituted for something else. It would also be a great way for students to learn about genes on their own. Included in this product is science content on genes, references including books and videos, and step-by-step procedures on how to build the gene model with explanation for students.

Science Standard:
S5L2. Students will recognize that offspring can resemble parents in inherited traits and learned behaviors.
a. Compare and contrast the characteristics of learned behaviors and of inherited traits.
b. Discuss what a gene is and the role genes play in the transfer of traits.
