In this product you will have two introduction activities that include pictures and topics of class discussion to get students thinking about comparative anatomy and how it helps scientists determine evolutionary relationships.
Students will write a 3 paragraph essay explaining if they think a pterodactyl should be classified as a bird, mammal, or reptile. Students need to use anatomical proof to explain their answer.

My students do not LOVE to write but I think cross curricular activity and getting comfortable writing in science is important! However, they did enjoy arguing with one another on the pterodactyls classification! There arguments included bone structure and behavior of the pterodactyl! I loved listening to them get involved!
