This class assignment has students working in groups in order to come up with a consensus on what it means to be an American. This is meant as an introductory assignment that is perfect for a Civics or Politics, United States History class, or even an Art History class. Students are asked to read a document and analyze art in order to answer this questions. This lesson includes a student assignment sheet, the document to read, copies of the art work to use, and a PowerPoint in order to have students discuss their ideas as a class.
