What is it Made Of? A Composition Describing Activity
This is a sorting activity that targets describing items based on their composition. There are two different sets of pictures for students to sort into eight different categories of materials. One set is clipart pictures, while the second set is real photographs. This is a total of 64 different items for students to sort onto eight different material mats (fabric, plastic, wood, metal, glass, rubber, paper, and leather).
Included in this packet is a sentence starter mat that provides visual supports for stating a complete sentence about an item’s composition. (A ____ is made of _____.) This mat uses the 64 item cards and eight different materials cards to provide visual supports.
Also included in this packet are four different worksheets that target sorting items into their material and also describing what the item is made of.
