Product Description
In this inquiry based lesson, students will make connections between books and movie adaptations of the same story. Students will hone their critical thinking skills as they analyze scripts, original texts, and movie clips. Students will use the compare and contrast strategy to identify similarities and differences in different accounts of a story.

At the end of this lesson, students will be able to answer the essential question, “What makes a movie better than a book or a book better than a movie?” and support their reasoning with sound evidence.

This lesson includes content related to five high-interest stories: Coraline, Harry Potter, Shrek 2, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Matilda. Students will demonstrate their understanding by choosing and completing a final project.
