What it is:
This is a photo article that allows you to click through pictures of families all around the world as they pose in their kitchens with the contents of their cupboards spread out for you to see. Under the pictures is a caption that tells what country is featured, how much the family's weekly budget is in their currency and in dollars. It also includes the family's favorite dish.
It is a very eye-opening article and begs to be used for research in the classroom! I have included some templates to guide students as they experience the pictures for themselves.
What is included:
A predictions chart to allow students to jot their thinking about what some of the people who live in the featured countries eat and how much a week they spend on groceries.
A notes template to guide students’ observations as they click through the pictures.
Three Quick Write prompts to engage the students’ thinking after completing their notes. Two are located on page 11 and the third prompt is on page 12. You can cut them apart and let students paste them into their notebooks and do the Quick Write under this prompt/header.
A World Map in case you would like for students to color in the countries that they discover along the way.
A Clothing Comparison Prompt
A Continent/Country Sort
An Opinion Prompt
