Product Description
Display these in your room as a scaffold for students who may not know an answer right away. Use them to help teach students how to respond when they are unsure about them. Letting students opt out with a response of “I don’t know” reinforces learned helplessness and lets them exit the learning process. These posters help my students keep engaged in learning; there is no opportunity to opt out. This also creates an expectation of accountable conversation in your classroom. Students still have the freedom of choice (they may answer right away, or can ask others for assistance), but they may never ”exit” the academic conversation. This is a great metacognitive strategy that will help create and uphold an expectation of scholarly discussion in your classroom.

When utilizing this metacognitive strategy, students will feel a sense of ownership of their learning when they can monitor their comprehension and and ask meaningful questions that support their learning.

There are multiple printing options for this poster set. Each poster set has a title with 2 choices (What to say instead of I don't know, OR Instead of I don't Know, try Saying...)
There are 5 visual question prompts for students to ask, instead of saying "I don't know", in order to keep their discussion accountable.
