A lesson equally useful for first teaching or revision, this is designed to equip students with the knowledge, and facilitate the difficult thinking necessary, to tackle extended GCSE questions. In this case, the OCR B syllabus is used, but this can be adapted for any of the exam boards' marking criteria.
1. Slides 2-5: students tasked with remembering the images on the screen, and then with explaining how they are connected. Can they suggest what each image has to do with the causes of the economic boom?
2. Slide 6 – objectives
Use cards to establish connections between the causes of the boom. Use links sheet (slide 8) to help. This could also be done as a whole class activity with string, with students connecting causes physically
3. OCR 10 mark question: Students tasked with improving an answer (slide 9) with help sheets (slides 10-11)
4. Plenary: students discuss images again, and explain which cause(s) are more important and why
