My classroom is arranged into cooperative learning groups. They create a team name, handshake, and decorated a flag that is attached to their group of desks. I created this "scoreboard" for the Smart Board. Teams who cooperate and follow the rules, maybe first to finish a job, etc. earn points throughout the day. At the end of the day we count the tally marks and determine a "winner." The winning team gets to keep a stuffed animal on their desks the next day, as well as being first for everything from lining up to being served snack. It's a positive way to encourage cooperative learning and has proven to be successful for discipline as well.
