This is one of 5 centers dedicated to 4th grade place value math centers. In this product students will learn how to tell the difference between the greater than, less than and equal to sign and then have this skill reinforces by a center game. There is information here on how to teach the concept, information for students to put into their interactive math journals as well as a center game with everything you need. Here are the directions located in the file:
This center is meant for 2 players.
Each player should have
• one set of symbols (<. > and =)
• 1 set of number cards.
Decide how many digits you would like to compare and have each student flip over that number of cards, for example if you would like to work on comparing millions each student would flip over 7 cards. (Dice can be used in place of the cards by giving each person 7 dice to roll.)
You may not rearrange their cards, simply flip them over in order. Once the first player flips over the allotted number of cards, the second player should flip over the same number of cards from their own hand. Both players then try to be the first to put the correct symbol in the middle (<,> or =). The first person to put the correct symbol in the middle wins that hand.
This center is meant to reinforce the concept of greater than, less than and equal to. This center can be used with up to 2 students at a time. I have included a page of pocket sized vocabulary cards for this concept for the students to place in their interactive math journals.
This center is meant to be used in conjunction with the other 4 place value centers located on my TPT site.
