Product Description
The main character in “The Possibility of Evil” is Miss Strangeworth. This unique name reflects her character traits. It is not uncommon for an author to give a character a meaningful name that will tell the reader something about that character.

The What's in a Name? Worksheet asks students to do some investigating to find out the meaning behind their name and share their findings with their peers!

This was a really fun activity that I did with my freshman students as we were reading the short story "The Possibility of Evil" by Shirley Jackson. I used it as a homework assignment and as a fun warm-up discussion the following day. It was really interesting for both me and my students to learn something new about each other!

This activity can be used for any piece of literature where the characters have meaningful names.
